What is a Facelift?
From around the age of 30, the effects of gravity cause the facial structures to gradually descend. As a result, the round, youthful contours of the face begin to diminish. Part of this sagging occurs because the fat pads of the face shift downward.
A facelift helps reduce visible signs of aging and restores a youthful, refreshed appearance, with results that can last for many years.
Combined procedures
A facelift is often performed together with a neck lift and can also be combined with other procedures, such as:
- Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)
- Fat grafting
- Removal of fat under the chin
- Brow or forehead lift
These combinations help achieve a harmonious and natural-looking result.
How the procedure is performed
During the operation:
- The superficial muscle layer of the face and neck is lifted,
- The muscle is secured with special sutures,
- Excess skin is removed,
- The clear contour between the jawline and the neck is restored.
The result looks natural, and the scars are hidden in the natural fold behind the ear, making them barely noticeable.
Anaesthesia and recovery
- The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia in a day-surgery setting.
- While it is possible to return home the same evening, an overnight stay in the hospital is recommended.
- Initial recovery takes about 5 days.
- Mild bruising and skin discoloration may last up to 2 weeks.
- Stitches are removed after 10 days, and the wounds usually heal well.
